Advocate for Charter Schools: Join the MACS Parent & Caregiver Cohort

The Minnesota Association of Charter Schools (MACS), which represents charter schools at the Legislature, is starting a Parent and Caregiver Advocacy Cohort this fall. This year is especially important at the Capitol, and your voice as a parent or caregiver can help make a difference in the push for fair funding for charter schools. This free, three-part virtual series will give you the facts you need, help you connect with your elected officials, and show you how to share your family's story.

Cohort Sessions (virtual)
  • Monday, October 26, 6:00–7:30 p.m.: Charter Public School Facts 101
  • Monday, November 9, 6:00–7:30 p.m.: Grassroots Lobbying 101 and Your Story
  • Monday, November 30, 6:00–8:00 p.m.: Putting It All Together: Advocacy at the Minnesota Legislature

Optional Follow-Up Opportunities
  • Wednesday, January 20, 2027, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (in person): Tour the Capitol and attend an education hearing
  • Thursday, February 18, 2027, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. (in person): Charter School Day at the Capitol

Riding Safely: A Message from Ramsey Police

The Ramsey Police Department has asked us to share this guide because they have concerns about how e-bikes, scooters, golf carts, ATVs, and mini-bikes are being used in our community. Each of these vehicles has its own rules about the rider's age, where it can be ridden, and what equipment it needs. Please take a few minutes to review the guide with your kids before they head out. Questions? Contact the Ramsey Police Department at 763-427-6812.

Character Matters: September Respect Award

This month, as part of our PACT Compass course, students were challenged to put respect into action and reflect on the impact of their choices on others. At PACT, we define respect as understanding that someone or something is good, valuable, and important, and treating them appropriately. We’re excited to recognize Isabella Dyakulich (8th grade) and Benjamin Brummett (9th grade) as our September Character Award winners!

Isabella chose to do her brother’s chores on his birthday so he could have a break and enjoy his day. She gave him more time to enjoy a day that was special to him. Benjamin made French pizzas for his entire family without being asked, taking the initiative to do something thoughtful for everyone at home. Both students found a way to show their families they care through their actions.

Congratulations to Isabella and Benjamin, and thank you for sharing your examples of respect with our PACT Online community!
